Yoder and Dodge City, Kansas

Don, Mary, Bob and I went to Yoder looking for an Amish community.  We found a very small town with some shops.  There were amish ladies selling their home baked goods.  Yum!  The snickerdoodles were delish!!  While in a gift shop we learned of a turkey dinner called the Yoder Community Turkey Dinner and the proceeds benefit missions.  This was the 49th year for the event.  We  enjoyed turkey, stuffing, corn, potatoes, cranberry salad, gravy, rolls, and a large assortment of homemade pies.  It was all you could eat and we were all hard pressed to finish our first plate.  No seconds for us.

Great colors on our way to Dodge City.

Dinner at Cattleman's Steakhouse

Dinner at Cattleman's Steakhouse in Oklahoma City was delicious and too much food.  Not so with the desserts.  Still waiting for the waitress to check on dessert for our some at our table.  We had no problem locating the steakhouse but a few of us followed our "Garmins" and drove on a ramp that was supposedly closed for construction.  But as Bob Simons would say perhaps "it's only a suggestion."  Luckily, we had no obstacles on the ramp and were able to navigate back to the campground.

Denton, TX to Oklahoma City, OK

We left Denton, Texas and headed to our next destination - Oklahoma City, OK.  At a rest stop, an 86-year old woman had fallen and Vicky, Steve and Mabel came to her rescue and helped her into the visitor center rest area.  Vicky and Mabel helped her into the bathroom but without success since the woman was unable to stand.  Mabel had an employee call for an ambulance.  We then left and beat feet before Group 2 caught up to us.

Pioneer Plaza, Book Depository and Samuels BBQ

Day 82 - Lots of adventures today.  "Pioneer Plaza honors Dallas’ cowboy past by celebrating the trails that brought settlers to Dallas. Pioneer Plaza features native landscaping with a flowing stream and waterfall with a re-creation of a cattle drive in the form of bronze statues of longhorns being driven by three horse riding cowboys.
Each sculpture was created by Robert Summers of Glen Rose, Texas. The sculptures are believed to be the largest bronze sculptures of their type in the world."  We all had fun posing with the cattle.  Sherry had an awful misstep trying to navigate the rocks over stream.  Her camera and phone also went into the drink with her.  Steve M. did an excellent job troubleshooting the electronics.  We're hoping when they dry out they will work.  Unfortunately Sherry, Norm, Vicky and Steve were not able to make it back in time for the book depository museum.  When we were through in Dallas we drove to Chuck and Donna Samuels in Lucas for a wonderful BBQ.  Scrumptious - Yum!  If anyone left hungry it was their own fault.

Which way to the bead store?
